Hey all! I have started a side project called gateTRX (pronounced gate-tricks) which focuses more on my experimental side of production, including beats, hip hop, rap, garage and more. So I am going to get my shit together and write a real, proper blog entry regarding what I am doing musically at the moment and also the music I am listening to, and that inspires/influences me. Hopefully I can make this a regular occurrence. So first of all I am going to start with a track of mine, one I wrote a couple of months ago, which was initially going to be part of the upcoming E.P., however it didn't quite fit into the whole feel of things, so I have just released it for free download as a prelude to the E.P. . . grab it here! When I created this tune I had just discovered the very talented Canadian producer, JPod, whose debut album "Halfsteppin'" greatly inspired me to make this track. I was interested in the overall swung feeling of JPod's album, which is created by the 'halfstep' technique which has become his signature. So I had a go at it and made this. Not in the league of JPod's marvelous works, but not bad all the same :) You can find JPod's music here: Righto, now on to other music I am listening to at the moment and why! I have been recently getting into a bit of the old 808 style bass music, probably due to my love for classic Rap and Hip Hop, this led me to find an incredible artist called ARP101, who did an indie electronic/IDM remix of Slugabeds 'Mountains Come Out of the Sky'. I instantly loved it's haunting arpeggios and it's link to the 808/hip hop style. Here it is, have a geez! Angus Green So I have just finished my new E.P. which will be out sometime in the upcoming months via Empathy Recordings. Full of some crazy bass anthems which I'm sure you'll all love!
